The Program Instructor will plan, direct, and implement program in one of the Trail Master Program areas and assume unit responsibilities when not in the program area. Program Areas: Archery/Sports, Arts/Crafts, Boating/Swimming, Outdoor Living/Nature/Hiking, Theater. *Training provided in many areas*
Sets up program area during staff training.
Teaches and monitors proper use of equipment. Conducts daily check of area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair and arranges for repairs as needed.
Writes lesson plans that will foster growth of campers’ skills in relation to the Trail Master skill levels.
Keeps records on all campers; helps them progress from beginner to advance levels.
Learns the likes/dislikes of each camper.
Sets a good example for campers and others including cleanliness, punctuality, sharing clean-up and chores, sportsmanship, and table manners.
Recognizes and responds to opportunities for problem-solving in the group.
Helps each camper meet the goals established by the camp for camper development.
Assists in supervising all assigned aspects of the campers’ day including morning reveille, kapers, meal times, rest hour, evening activities, getting ready for bed, and after-hours duty as assigned.
Evaluates current season and makes suggestions for following seasons.
Prepares for and actively participates in staff training.
Encourages respect for personal property, camp equipment and facilities.
Assists with opening and closing camp, making inventories and reports.
Other duties as assigned.
This is a full-time summer position and meals and lodging are included, as well as access to fun camp activities! Program areas are: Archery, Sports, Arts/Crafts, Outdoor Living Skills, Hiking, Nature, Theater, Swimming, Canoeing. We will provide training if you have basic knowledge/experience.
Camp Pondicherry is located on 700 acres in the foothills of the White Mountainsm minutes from the town of Bridgton.
Acceptance of and adherence to the purpose and principles of Girl Scouting as embodied in the promise, law, and program goals. Willingness to become a registered member of the organization
At least eighteen years of age
Current CPR and First Aid certifications
Training and experience in the designated program area
Previous youth camp staff experience or similar youth program experience
Ability to maintain equipment in excellent working condition
Ability to accept supervision and guidance and teach an activity
Good character, integrity, adaptability, enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control
Ability and willingness to handle rough and uneven terrain and the day-to-day rigor of camp life
Possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers and staff
A fun summer in a beautiful outdoor setting in Maine, helping to assure girls have a safe and memorable time at camp. You will also have access to swimming in a pristine pond, canoeing/funyaking, and hiking trails. Meals and lodging are included.
