Work one to one with a child who has mental illness, mental retardation, or autism. Work in the child's home, and take him/her into the community. Your work is based on a treatment plan written specifically for that individual child. Depending on what the child needs, you may teach the child:
Independent living skills - bathing, dressing, staying safe.
Behavior management - focusing, managing anger.
Social skills - appropriate behavior in public places, skills for playing with other children.

Work is done in the client's home and Saco community.
Some experience working with children, volunteer or paid. A reliable vehicle and a clean driving record (no OUI's). Must possess a valid Maine Driver's License and successfully pass a criminal background check and motor vehicle record check. The ideal individual is one who:
Maintains boundaries and professionalism
Relates to client and family with compassion
Uses creativity in planning children's activities
Knows how to have fun while accomplishing goals
High School diploma or GED
Flexible part-time work schedule - determined by you and your client - evenings/weekends
Supervision and support provided by experienced staff
Paid staff training sessions, quarterly
