Job Description Print friendly version of job 
Work one to one with a child who has mental illness, mental retardation, or autism. Work in the child's home, and take him/her into the community. Your work is based on a treatment plan written specifically for that individual child. Depending on what the child needs, you may teach the child:
  • Independent living skills - bathing, dressing, staying safe.
  • Behavior management - focusing, managing anger.
  • Social skills - appropriate behavior in public places, skills for playing with other children.

Job Requirements
Some experience working with children, volunteer or paid. A reliable vehicle and a clean driving record (no OUI's).  Must possess a valid Maine Driver's License and successfully pass a criminal background check and motor vehicle record check.
