RN or Physician - Health Services Assistant

 *Looking for an RN or Physician to come to camp once daily for about 2 hours, to oversee the health logs/medications and to give the on-site Health Services Director/Assistant a break. Looking for someone to come in just two days each week, Friday and Saturday. You would not need to live on-site, just visit us a couple of days a week! Please contact me if you have any interest and we can chat about details. This position MUST be filled by a Licensed Physician or RN.* 

Come spend a fun summer at beautiful Camp Pondicherry!  As the part-time RN/Health Services Assistant you will assist the Health Services Director in the oversight of health and safety of campers and staff at camp.

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Ensures each staff member/camper has a current health history and examination form on file and assists in maintenance of these records for the duration of the camp season.
  2. Participates in efficient check-in system for health screening/medications for arriving campers/staff.  
  3. Establishes and follows appropriate medical procedures: record-keeping in daily medical log; disposal of medical waste; managing/safeguarding medications and distribution; utilizing standing orders.
  4. Responds to camper/staff health concerns promptly, no matter the time of day or night.  Assures can be contacted by Camp Director and other staff AT ALL TIMES.
  5. Makes appointments with medical/dental personnel as needed.
  6. Participates in and leads specific areas of staff training pertaining to camp health and safety.
  7. Supervises all campers who are required to stay in the health center.
  8. Monitors health of all campers and camp staff during camp season.
  9. Prepares a summary and evaluation of the camp season including inventories, staff evaluations, camper reports on health problems, and makes recommendations for the following season.
  10. Monitors/evaluates camp procedures, facilities and conditions in the camp.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

 

While on site, housing and meals are provided, as well as access to fun camp activities!  Qualified applicants must be a Physician or Registered Nurse licensed to practice in the state of Maine (license reciprocity with other states may also be an option).  This will be a part-time position, primarily covering 2 hours each day and assisting at camper check-in on Sunday afternoons. Job Requirements

·        Acceptance of and adherence to the purpose and principles of Girl Scouting as embodied in the promise, law, and program goals.  Willingness to become a registered member of the organization

·         Twenty-one years of age or older

·         Valid driver’s license, car, and a clean driving record

·         Licensed/certified as a Physician Assistant, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Emergency Medical Technician, Wilderness First Responder, or Athletic Trainer in the state of Maine (required). License reciprocity with other states may be an option.

·         Experience and willingness to work with children and young adults in the outdoors

·         Ability to originate and update/monitor health care procedures; maintain records; and implement health care plan

·         Current CPR and First Aid certification

 

Education Requirements

Must be licensed/certified as a Physician or Registered Nurse in the state of Maine.  License reciprocity with other states may be an option.
