SUMMARY:               The Camp Program Director will oversee all camp program and program staff, and will ensure a quality, enriching program is offered to all girls; will also assume responsibility for well-being of camp in the absence of the Camp Director or the Assistant Camp Director.


  1. Runs camp in the absence of the Camp Director or the Assistant Camp Director.
  2. Works with the Camp Director to develop and implement a camp program that is reflective of the Girl Scout program, camping goals and objectives, and needs and interests of girls.
  3. Works with the Camp Director to plan and implement staff training and in-service training.
  4. Works with Camp Director to develop needed routines, schedules, procedures for camp operations, and proper maintenance of camp property.
  5. Assists with opening and closing of camp.
  6. Contributes to the overall health and well-being of campers and camp staff.
  7. Provides supervision and leadership to all program staff.
  8. Assumes administrative responsibilities as assigned by the Camp Director, to include leadership of staff meetings and large group activities.
  9. Is available for camp meetings and assists with behavior management of campers.
  10. Submits requisitions for equipment and supplies when needed, ensuring timely arrival of materials.
  11. Formally evaluates staff at least twice a season, and conducts other evaluations as necessary.
  12. Evaluates current season, and makes suggestions for following seasons.
  13. Other duties as assigned.

This is a full-time summer position and you will be required to live on-site at the camp. Dates for Resident Camp June 27-Aug 4, 2014

Location Notes:Camp Natarswi is located 18 miles north of Millinocket ME. Camp is before the South Entrance of Baxter State Park.
Job Requirements
  • Acceptance of and adherence to the purpose and principles of Girl Scouting as embodied in the Promise, Law, and program goals
  • Willingness to become a registered member of the organization
  • Twenty-one years of age or older
  • Valid driver’s license, car, and a clean driving record
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Previous youth camp staff experience or similar youth program experience
  • Ability and experience in scheduling and supervising staff and campers in the out-of-doors
  • Ability to communicate effectively with campers, staff, parents, and the public
  • Ability and willingness to handle rough and uneven terrain and the day-to-day rigor of camp life
  • Possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers and staff
  • Ability to be organized and detailed, particularly in regard to record-keeping
