Connections for Kids
"I believe in what we do. I enjoy our supportive team approach, laughter--sense of humor, and camaraderie. I work with compassionate, caring people who truly enjoy helping our community."
The Connection for Kids (CFK) office is a busy but relaxed atmosphere, filled with an open-minded, hard-working, close- knit group of employees. We try to have fun and keep the team spirit alive by retaining a "small office" feel as we continue to grow and expand to other locations. The work is always interesting and our employees are here because they want to make a difference.
As new positions become available they are first posted internally, offering employees the opportunity to advance. We encourage our staff to apply for openings that we think they would be interested in. We enjoy promoting from within whenever possible.
In-house trainings are available with our Clinical Director on topics relevant to the social services workplace. BHP training, in-house CPR and First Aid, and Safety Care training are required for all employees. We also use Relias, an online training site, for most of our required courses. This allows the employee to complete the training on their own at their own pace and have access from anywhere.
Connections for Kids Mission and Vision:
Connections for Kids believes that the best environment for children’s growth is a healthy family.
We specialize in teaching the fundamentals of parenting to those families responsible for the development of their children.
Our staff is committed to providing a high standard of professional therapeutic services.
Our vision is to provide children and families with the best possible resources to sustain a healthy and productive life.
Connections For Kids was founded in 1996 by a former foster parent who saw a great need for short-term residential placements for children in the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services. The goal was to limit the number of placements a child would have to make before they found the right match and we specialized in keeping sibling groups together.
Originally called Foster Family Connection, Connections for Kids has grown from a single residential program to a complete mental health and educational based agency providing a continuum of care to families, children, youth, and adults. Connections for Kids is an affiliate of Kids Free to Grow.
Our agency focuses on providing children and families with necessary skills-based therapy and education to help them successfully live happy lives.
CFK is a fully licensed mental health agency serving children, adults and families.
We offer Outpatient Therapy for children, families and adults, Targeted Case Management for Children, Supervised Visitation, Home and Community Based Treatment(HCT) and Section 28, Rehab and Community Support Services for Children with cognitive impairments and functional limitations.
We currently have offices in southern Maine: Westbrook and Portland, Western Maine:Hiram, Central Maine:Belgrade and Auburn, and Northern Maine:Caribou and Houlton.
“Connections for Kids has provided my family an amazing level of service! They have been kind, compassionate, and supportive through some very difficult transitions. They care deeply about their work and it shows in their work. I do not know what I would have done without Connections for Kids.”
We are the community support, but we often go above and beyond what is required of our agency, with such things as: distributing Project Linus homemade blankets to some of our clients, at Christmas time we collect gifts from local contributors and distribute to our client families, at Thanksgiving and Christmas as an agency we give Hannaford gift cards to some of our neediest families. With the support of a Liberty Family Foundation grant we are able to provide supervised visitation services for eligible clients at a reduced rate.
For the last two years we have hosted a holiday party for our clients with MR and Autism. Last year we read The Polar Express, had cookies and hot chocolate and distributed hard-cover copies of the book to all participants. The kids loved it and we hope it will continue as an annual tradition.
Connections for Kids is an equal opportunity employer. All applicants shall receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religious creed, sex, national origin, ancestry, age, physical or mental disability or sexual orientation.
