Hospice of Southern Maine seeks a part time 16 hour Housekeeper.
Under supervision, performs daily cleaning tasks for patient rooms, clinical station, living room, restrooms, dining room, spa room, utility rooms, office areas, and other common spaces and any other areas assigned, in accordance to standard procedures consistent with facility objectives.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs all duties and housekeeping responsibilities in accordance with basic principles and guidelines of professional cleaning Performs basic cleaning functions in all assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods: Follows cleaning schedule (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.) as outlined for housekeeping department.
Cleans assigned areas, furnishings and fixtures according to established housekeeping procedures and sanitary standards.
Cleans floors: dry mops, wet mops, sweeps, waxes, buffs, disinfects where and when necessary and required. Performs emergency housekeeping where accidents occur.
Cleans movable and stationary furnishings and fixtures: dusts, spot cleans or washes, disinfects when necessary, polishes where required. This includes the cleaning of ledges, shelves, vents, etc. Empties, cleans and relines wastebaskets. Straightens or rearranges furniture as needed. Inspects furnishings for wear and defects and reports to the House Manager.
Cleans bathrooms: cleans and disinfects all fixtures, floors and walls as directed. Washes windows and mirrors. Replenishes bathroom supplies as needed.
Cleans walls, windows, doors and ceilings: spot cleans between washings, washes, disinfects when necessary. Walls and ceilings and ceiling fixtures are cleaned as scheduled.
Cleans entrances, common areas and exits: Cleans as directed above for floors and walls.
Cleans all surfaces daily or as required, removing dust, direct, or greasy film, using disinfectants where necessary such as patient rooms, etc.
Performs terminal cleaning duties according to established procedures. Patient rooms when patient has been discharged or transferred and prepares room for new occupant according to infection control policies and sanitizing procedures.
Replenishes room supplies as necessary.
Removes for cleaning and re-hangs curtains, drapes, and dividers when necessary. Removes waste and disposes of waste and trash while maintaining appropriate standard procedures.
Reports observations concerning structural and equipment wear, defects and malfunctioning to House Manager.
Evaluates and maintains inventory of cleaning products and supplies. Initiates necessary order form and submits it to the House Manager.
Maintains equipment used in performing duties or initiate a work order for broken and/or damaged equipment.
Maintains the housekeeping closet and cart organized and tidy. Assists with orientation of new staff.Reports unsafe environments/practices to the House Manager.Completes check sheets and housekeeping reports timely and legibly. Collaborates with house staff regarding potential needs of facility on a daily basisPerforms additional duties as assigned.
One year housekeeping/cleaning service preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent, demonstrated ability to read and write required.
