Maine Medical Center's Division of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery is seeking a Board Certified congenital cardiac surgeon to lead their Division of Congenital Heart Surgery. The candidate must have completed an American Board of Thoracic Surgery certified Congenital Heart Surgery fellowship, and at least five years of experience is desired but not required.

The Congenital Heart Surgery Program at Maine Medical Center is over 50 years old, and has become a well-established program with a full range of expertise in congenital cardiology, including comprehensive catheter-based interventions, electrophysiology and adult congenital cardiology. The team includes specialist pediatric cardiac anesthesia, outstanding perfusion, and intensive care physician and nursing services. It is the only congenital cardiac surgery program in northern New England, and the Division Director will be instrumental in growing the program in Maine and New Hampshire. Support exists for the Division Director to collaborate with larger programs along the East Coast if there is interest. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work with the 6 members of the adult CT surgical group.

Congenital cardiology and cardiac surgery services are offered at The Barbara Bush Children's Hospital, a 96-bed hospital within Maine Medical Center and a three-time Magnet designated hospital. The PICU has 8 beds with 400+ admissions per year, and the CTICU has 12 beds for patients over 19 years of age. MMC Operating Rooms include 2 rooms equipped for hybrid procedures. A full range of mechanical circulatory support is available including robust ECMO program and full range of durable ventricular assist devices.

Maine Medical Center has 637 licensed beds and is the state's leading tertiary hospital and Level One Trauma Center, with a full complement of residencies and fellowships and an integral part of the Tufts University Medical School. The position involves teaching and mentoring residents and medical students from the Maine Medical Center-Tufts University School of Medicine Program. The successful candidate would have an academic appointment at Tufts University School of Medicine.
