The MaineHealth Corporate Internship Program is a terrific opportunity for students to gain valuable insight and hands-on experience within Maine's largest healthcare system. These positions will be based primarily at the MaineHealth Corporate office in Portland, ME.

This intern will be involved in a variety of prevention and public health focus areas, including childhood immunization, colorectal cancer screening, diabetes, hospital food service, oral health integration, and efforts related the care of pregnant women affected by the opioid crisis. Tasks and responsibilities will include:
-Performing site visits to hospitals and primary care practices
-Programmatic staff interviews
-Material development
-Data analysis

This is a paid position. Interns will be paired with a MaineHealth employee who will be their preceptor and mentor for the summer. The preceptor will assign several tasks and projects to the student. In addition to working closely with their preceptor, the interns will attend several learning sessions throughout the summer. These sessions include discussions with MaineHealth senior leaders, informative presentations about how to write effective resumes and cover letters, and mock-interview sessions to practice answering behavior-based interview questions. Interns will present a summary of their projects and tasks in mid-August at the intern final presentation session.

MaineHealth interns will have the exciting opportunity to work, learn, and develop their skills at the largest healthcare organization in Maine. Interns provide administrative and project support within their department and are valued members of each department team.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Student who is currently enrolled in a four-year degree program in pursuit of a Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Strong analytical thinking.
  • Must work independently, take initiative to complete assigned projects with minimal direction, and be able to prioritize tasks within an assigned project.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in the performance of duties.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products and other technologies as needed.
