The University of Maine Augusta is seeking applicants for the position of Adjunct Instructor for the MLT Program of Maine. The instructor will teach MLT 206 Hematology/Coagulation for the summer 2019 (mid May-mid July) and assist with Hematology rotation during the clinical practicum.

Course description: Identification and enumeration of blood cell types in blood and body fluids. Various red cell and white cell disorders are discussed. Coagulation including routine coagulation tests, coagulation disorders, and anticoagulant therapy is covered. Three intensive labs and/or review sessions will be held at MaineGeneral Medical Center. Course originates from UMA. Prerequisite: MLT 105, MLT 203 OR permission of instructor. This is a four credit course.

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and previous college teaching experience, in accordance with the PATFA contract.

Qualifications:

The following job requirements represent minimum levels of education, experience, and competencies/abilities needed to perform this job successfully:
  • Education: Master's degree
  • Certification: MLS, MT, or MLT from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP).

Experience:
  • One year college-level online and/or classroom instruction preferred
  • Two years practical experience in the area of instruction preferred
  • Hematology experience preferred
