The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking applicants for an adjunct instructor to teach the UAS AVI 100/UAS 210 course. This course prepares students to sit for the FAA Remote Pilot Certification. Additionally, the instructor will supplement teaching and lab supervision for the design and construction of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, both fixed and rotary wing, UAS 220, and UAS 230. Salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and previous college teaching experience, in accordance with the PATFA contract.


  • Must possess strong oral, written, customer-focused interpersonal communication skills
  • Teaching experience as a flight instructor and at a post-secondary educational institution teaching aviation subjects
  • Ability to and comfort with working outdoors year-round on level and rough terrain
  • Bachelor's degree in an approved related technical area or a combination of related education and experience
  • Qualified as a FAA CFI and/or ATP and as an FAA certified Remote Pilot
  • Operational experience with aircraft safety management systems
  • Experience managing flight training and flight operations
  • Maine driver's license with a clean driving record
  • A professional demeanor, strong work ethic, and eagerness to expand a growing program
  • The selected individual will be comfortable working with an experimental program, will be able to voice recommendations for the modernization of the program, and will be flexible enough to adapt to sudden changes in mission tasking.

  • Master's Degree in an approved related discipline
  • Two or more years successful teaching experience at the college level
  • High level of understanding of and experience working with FAA and other governmental organizations
  • Small UAS operations experience including maintenance of equipment
