As a Spurwink Day/residential treatment nurse consultant you will assist in supporting our clients in achieving their optimum level of health & wellness. Our Nurse will assume responsibility for providing consultation to Children Day Treatment, and Residential Programs in Cornville, Lewiston-Auburn and Chelsea.

Many positions include sign on bonuses that are available to full-time newly hired staff. The first half of the sign on bonus ($1000) will be paid after 90 days of full-time employment and the second half of the sign on bonus ($1000) will be paid after six months of full time employment. If a new hire changes status to either part-time or per diem status during any of that timeframe, they will forfeit the sign on bonus that is yet to be paid
Provide health education, wellness groups, and counseling to assist Spurwink clients and their families in making lifestyle decisions that affect health.
When appropriate, perform assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, management, and referral activities in conjunction with multidisciplinary teams.
Provide for the promotion and maintenance of health, as well as the prevention of illness and injuries; facilitates the removal of health-related barriers to learning.
Assume the role as the Nurse Care Manager on Spurwink's Behavioral Health Home Teams in your geographical area.
BHH responsibilities will include participation in case consultations; monitoring notifications through HealthInfoNet and follow up as appropriate with clients, families, Case Managers, and PCPs; follow up with clients/guardians after discharge from hospitalizations to assure discharge plan is being adhered to; monitor labs and x-rays, and keep client health information up to date in Spurwink's electronic health record.
Coordinate and participate in the establishment, review and implementation of agency health policies, procedures, and Health Outcome Quality Measures in collaboration with the Director of Nursing, Medical Director, and other Spurwink Leadership.
Promote and assist in the control of communicable diseases in Spurwink’s day treatment centers, preschools and residential homes including monitoring, surveillance, and participating in disease prevention and outbreak management.
Education and Experience: BSN or registered nurse with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Maine Department of Education certification 524. Must maintain required licensing and certification throughout the duration of employment with Spurwink in this role.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Necessary: Minimum of three years of experience in community health nursing, family nursing, pediatric nursing, or school health nursing. Direct service experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, serious emotional disturbance, and developmental disabilities is preferred. Must have the ability to exercise professional judgement in making decisions, communicate effectively with clients, parents, case managers, administrators, community providers and other selected personnel. Must possess a high level of organizational and time management skills. Must be computer literate and able to navigate an electronic medical health record, utilize HealthInfoNet, generate power point presentations, and present basic data summaries to management.
