Algae Curator-in-Training Apprentice Position at the National Center for Marine Algae and Microbiota (NCMA)
Have you ever been intrigued by the marvel of algae, or been interested in learning what it takes to grow, curate and conduct research with them? The National Center for Marine Algae and Microbiota (NCMA), a facility of Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences located in East Boothbay Maine, is looking for the right individual for its Curator-in-Training Apprentice program. We are looking for a mature, motivated and organized person with a scientific background to help NCMA transition its curatorial staff. The right individual will learn how to grow and curate algae from experts with decades of experience in this field. In addition, the successful individual will be part of a scientific team conducting active research in the area of algal natural products. This position is initially an hourly paid (~50% time) position, but the expectation is that if the person successfully integrates with all aspects of the NCMA team during this apprenticeship period (~3 months), that they will be strongly considered to transfer to a full time position with benefits.
