The University of Maine Farmington is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Educationfor the Division of Early Childhood and Elementary Education.
The Division of Early Childhood and Elementary Education at the University of Maine at Farmington invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning Fall, 2019. We seek a colleague who shares our commitment to, and has diverse experience in, early childhood education. The desired candidate will additionally have expertise teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses in early childhood in one or more of the following areas: leadership, infant/toddler education, Kindergarten through grade 3, and field experience. The responsibilities of the position also include advising students, serving on department, division and university committees, and engaging in professional and scholarly work. Faculty in early childhood education are expected to teach courses in both our on-campus and off-campus undergraduate programs and in the Master's program. The teaching load is three courses per semester or the equivalent.
An earned doctorate in early childhood education, child development, or a related field is required for tenure (ABDs at the time of hire will be considered at the instructor level). Other required qualifications include experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate early childhood education courses in traditional, blended and/or online formats, and the ability to work effectively with university students and the statewide community of early childhood professionals.
In addition, the following qualifications are highly desirable: two years full-time teaching experience in inclusive settings for young children ages birth-8 years; experience teaching curriculum and methods courses in early childhood; academic advising experience; and familiarity with instructional technology.
