The Division of Elementary, Early Childhood and Early Childhood Special Education at University of Maine Farmington invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning September 1, 2019.

We seek a colleague who shares our commitment to and has diverse experience in inclusive Early Childhood Special Education. The responsibilities of the position include advising students, serving on department, division and university committees, and engaging in professional and scholarly work. Teaching load, including supervision, is three courses per semester or the equivalent.



An earned doctorate in Early Childhood Special Education or a related field is required for tenure (ABDs at the time of application will be considered at the instructor level). Other required qualifications include experience teaching undergraduate courses and the ability to work effectively with university students and the community of early childhood special education professionals.


In addition, the following qualifications are highly desirable: two-years of full-time experience in early childhood special education (birth to age 8) settings, knowledgeable about the CEC/DEC professional standards on which our program is based, academic advising experience, familiarity with instructional technology and early childhood special education teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: introductory courses, assessment and methods, and intervention strategies.
