POSITION SUMMARY:  Responsible for administrative support for the Collections Department as well as the collection of loans that are 18-90 days past due.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contacts customers via phone and mail who are 18-90 days past due to resolve delinquency
  • Answers and handles incoming calls and inquiries from customers and third parties, refers complex calls to senior team members for resolution when necessary
  • Responsible for contacting customers via phone and mail regarding outstanding taxes owed to the Bank.  Assists in contacting municipalities to resolve tax issues
  • Assists in the preparation, mailing and tracking of certain legal notices
  • Assists in the preparation of letters to customers and third parties and posting of all outgoing mail on a daily basis as well as the handling of returned mail
  • Responsible for the preparation of documents and the scanning of documents to customer files on the online record system
  • Reviews all incoming Bankruptcy documents and distributes as required. 
  • Assists in the preparation and uploading of files to outside legal counsel as directed
  • Assists in the preparation of files for court mediation and court trials
  • Responsible for submitting maintenance requests through the Bank’s online system and assisting in the review of maintenance for accuracy as directed
  • Assists in the mailing of customer statements requiring special handling
  • Assists in performing research to locate past due customers as necessary
  • Responsible for collecting Financial Statements for review by senior team members
  • Monitors maturing loans and contacts borrowers as necessary
  • Maintains knowledge of repossession and foreclosure in all portfolios
  • Communicates with inside and outside sources as necessary
  • Assists in maintaining necessary information in department databases
  • Orders appraisals and flood certifications as required
  • Makes recommendations regarding past due loans and collections efforts
  • Responsible to assist Collections Associate I in all aspects of job
  • Works with senior team members on complex collection matters in an effort to gain knowledge
  • Assists Senior Collector and Collections Supervisor on projects as directed
  • Responsible to ensure sensitive and confidential matters are handled properly
  • Prepares probate documents as directed
  • Successfully pass technical and regulatory examinations by the Company.

  • Ability to gather and track information
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Excellent phone etiquette
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Keyboarding skill essential, with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Knowledge of procedures of secondary market servicing, FNMA, Freddie Mac, SBA, FAME, RHD and other related secondary market and governmental agencies highly desirable
  • High School Diploma
  • 2-3 years’ experience in banking collections
     

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND CONDITIONS 

  • Climate controlled general office setting.  Noise level is moderate
