The University of Maine Farmington is seeking applicants for the position of Facilities Maintenance Worker CL1 (Custodial) in Facilities Management.

Employee performs manual work necessary to maintain cleanliness, orderliness, appearance and sanitation of University campus grounds, roads, walks and buildings. Work is performed according to defined policies, procedures and standards under both written and verbal instructions. Makes decisions that affect the manner and speed in which the elements of an operation are performed. This is an essential position in which winter hours are weather dependent and the employee will be required to report to work during inclement weather and administrative holidays. Department employees may apply to same classification positions during their probationary period.

REQUIRED: Must have a valid Maine Drivers License and a high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) and sufficient experience, including one year of custodial or grounds related work experience. Education enabling ability to communicate effectively required. Must be capable of lifting and carrying equipment and materials up to up to 50 pounds frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects and be capable of standing for long periods of time and flexible enough for bending and reaching. Must have a basic knowledge of safety principles and skills in grounds, landscaping, and custodial procedures. Interpersonal and analytical skills are necessary in order to communicate effectively with coworkers and other University personnel.
