The Manager of Logistics is responsible for managing scheduling, traffic and shipping departments to maximize freight cost while conforming to customer requirements. Manage the interface between the mill sales and scheduling department.
3 Must Have Requirements:
- Logistics management (3 years minimum)
- Associates Degree (minimum)
- Knowledge of accounting, inventory control, business development, rail transportation operations, warehousing and distribution skills, and business software
- Associates Degree (Technical diploma preferred)
Average day to day responsibilities:
An advanced level of knowledge is needed freight contracts, hazardous material transportation, motor transportation loading and shipping, motor transportation operations, rate regulations, and customer service support. A solid working knowledge is required in accounting, inventory control, business development, rail transportation operations, warehousing and distribution skills, and business software. This job would require interpersonal communications, advising, recommending and or directing. Workingknowledge of exchanging information, persuading, telephone communications, group communication and composing written documentation such as reports and proposals. This position will also require some negotiating skills when working with the carriers. Regularly advises and interprets information for managers, superintendents, and supervisors as well as brokers.
