Under the general supervision from the Deputy Director of Public Works, manages and oversees winter and summer maintenance of the streets and associated infrastructure, solid waste collection and disposal and recycling and other issues related to Public Works operations. Assists the Deputy Director with scheduling of work crews to ensure that adequate resources are allocated to complete tasks in an efficient and timely manner.
The Operations Supervisor directly oversees a Public Works crew and is further responsible for coordination of the other front line supervisors, outside contractors and their work assignments, including plowing, rubbish collection, and Hatch Hill operations as well as other Public Works projects.
Applicants must have High School diploma and Associate’s Degree in a construction or engineering related field and six (6) years’ progressive experience in a Public Works related field, at least three (3) of which in a supervisory capacity. Experience may be substituted for advanced degrees on a year-for-year basis. Must possess a valid CDL A or B State of Maine motor vehicle operator’s license.
This is a full-time, non-exempt, non-union position with a comprehensive benefits package, including medical insurance, a pension, and generous paid time off. Pay scale is NU 18 $22.04 to $27.48 per hour, depending on the skills and background of the candidate.
