Description
Day One is Maine's leading agency preventing and treating adolescent substance use, and helping them live productive, healthy and rewarding lives. This part-time 24-hr DSP position will ensure continuity of care for residential clients. ranging in age from 13-18. The position can cover vacation days and shift coverage also. Responsibilities include providing supervision of youth, maintaining safety, documentation and house rules. Take appropriate steps in emergencies; maintain effective relationships by providing active listening and support; document client contact notes; participate in team meetings and training groups when appropriate; dispense medication and maintain accurate medical records. Must demonstrate excellent sense of judgment, personal stability, responsibility and dependability.
Requirements
Minimum requirements: Two or more years of human services-related experience, including working with adolescents with substance use issues, relevant training and education. Active listening, limit-setting and role modeling skills, sound judgment in maintainig boundaries, good driving record, satisfactory background checks, and interest and availability in working flexible hours. Preference will be given to candidates with adolescent residential experience. This is a part time 24-hour per week position. Candidates must be able to work week-ends and evening hours. This position offers comprehensive benefits, paid vacation, paid holidays and paid sick leave and personal leave, group medical and dental insurance, which will be pro-rated for part time employees. $14.50 - $14.75 with increase following intro period.
Education
Some knowledge of adolescent development, substance use, and recovery is required. Very good communications skills--verbal, written, interpersonal and listening skills.
