An excellent full-time opportunity is available for a
Peer Support Specialist
in our Community Housing Program.

Description
This position serves as a crucial member of our Community Housing Team providing participant (consumer) information and peer support within residential and community settings. This individual performs a wide range of tasks to assist participants in regaining control over their own lives and over their own recovery process. By applying the tools the Peer Support Specialist has developed in her/his own recovery, as well as the philosophy and values of Intentional Peer Support, the Peer Support Specialist will build a connection, consider worldview, maintain mutuality and move towards a new way of being within the new relationship with the participant. The Peer Support Specialist will also collaborate, coach and challenge participants in viewing crisis as an opportunity for growth and change.

Requirements
Qualified candidates must have (or be able to obtain within 12 months of hire) the Certified Intentional Peer Support Specialist (CIPSS) certification; and this certification must be maintained during employment. High School Diploma/Equivalency, computer proficiency, valid driver’s license and experience with mental health services as a self-identified consumer of mental health services are required.

Volunteer experience at a Peer Center, Peer Support 101 training, provisional CIPSS certificate and/or work experience as a Peer Support Specialist preferred.
