Spectrum Medical Group is looking for a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner! This position provides high-level clinical and administrative support to the Anesthesia Regional Block program. Provides the anesthesiologists with oversight and daily management for all patient regional block anesthesia program services. Assists Anesthesiologists by obtaining medical information, facilitating regional block anesthesia care and developing customized services for all patients within the program. Provides program development and educational support among varies clinical staff levels including integration with the APMS program. Is responsible to obtain and monitor relevant program data and conduct varies research activities and projects. Spectrum Medical Group is a growing and successful physician-led organization. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (List may not include all of the duties assigned; other duties may be assigned) :
•Provides clinical assistance and pre-administrative testing with all Block patient services: patient scheduling, pre-op & transport services, clinical prep (IV startup), IV sedation & monitoring, block administer.
•Reviews medical records of patients; obtains additional medical information as needed.
•Obtains and prepares appropriate anesthetic and sedation medication with oversight from medically directing Anesthesiologist.
•Prepares nerve stimulator and ultrasound machines.
•Oversees daily block patient scheduling and ensures designated block area is properly equipped for delivery of service.
•Coordinates patient flow and procedural activities with residents, clinical support staff, and sub-specialty anesthesiologists.
•Development and oversight for outpatient perineural catheter programs.
•Oversight and coordination of activities with the APMS service.
•Provides patient and program education to appropriate support staff (RN?s, CRNA?s Residents, Anesthesiologists, interested internal hospital staff.
•Serves as primary liaison support with patient assessments and clinical troubleshooting to other clinical areas and sites such as nursing floors, Plastic & Hand, Orthopedic Associates, surgical staff.
•Provides support for various related research projects, and may assist senior resident staff with various publications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
•Licensed Physician Assistant with 2-4 years experience in a surgical setting.
•Ability and knowledge of taking medical history, assessing medical condition and interpreting findings to assist anesthesiologist.
•Possesses familiarity with the indications for and potential adverse effects of epidural analgesic techniques.
•Organized, personable and familiar with the process of preparing patients for surgery.
•Familiarity with intrathecal delivery systems and catheter programs.
•Proven ability to develop and maintain productive clinical and administrative working relationships.
•Knowledge and experience with professional medical practice and patient care standards
