Entry-level and/or lateral police officers.
Our Police Officers perform the functions of law enforcement necessary to maintain community interaction, public peace, protect life and property, prevent crime, apprehend violators of the law and otherwise assure proper enforcement of the laws and ordinances of the City of Augusta and the State of Maine. They contribute to the apprehension of criminal suspects by conducting preliminary and follow-up investigations.
Interested candidates must be at least 21 year of age, possess a high school diploma or G.E.D, hold a valid Maine driver’s license with no O.U.I. conviction, have passed the Maine Criminal Justice Academy Alert test, and have the ability to pass the physical fitness test for entrance to Maine Criminal Justice Academy. Further education in law enforcement and completion of the 200 hour Pre-Service Certification is preferred.
A physical fitness test, oral interviews, in-depth criminal and personal background investigations, polygraph test, psychological exam, and physical are required of selected applicants.
Rate of pay depending on experience and education:
$20.39 to $27.31
