RECREATION COORDINATOR (FT)
The City of Augusta is seeking motivated professional to provide administrative and programming support to subordinate seasonal employees and volunteers. The Recreation Coordinator is required to have thorough knowledge of the principles, theory, and philosophy of the recreation profession; skill in organizing the services of the recreation division, which would include advance planning for areas and facilities, level of adequacy at which services are to be provided, formulation of plans for the development and replacement of personnel; understanding of recreation needs of the community, and ability to meet these needs with a progressive program; ability to guide and direct the work of the recreation division and its personnel and to delegate tasks with dispatch to particular parts of the division; administrative skill in communications; knowledge of the development, maintenance, and operation of recreation and park areas and facilities; ability to work with computers and associated software; and ability to inspire and work harmoniously with peers and employees. Public speaking, training presentations and public administration skills a must. Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions as needed.
Four year degree from accredited college with emphasis on recreation management or a related field or an equivalent of or combination of education and work experience.
The Recreation Coordinator position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, days and some weekends/evenings when required. Overtime is required in keeping with events and activities as directed and approved by Parks and Rec. Director. Rate of pay is GG Range 17 - $20.29 to $25.29 per hour ($42,203. To $52,603.20 year).
