In this role you will be responsible for administering programs company-wide that are designed to foster a positive employee relations environment through the consistent and equitable application of company policies and procedures and federal and state laws and regulations.  Identifies employee relations issues and recommends appropriate actions to address and resolve those issues.  Responsible for compliance with state and federal employment laws.
This position will also support the Company’s overall business strategy and help the business grow through its shareholders and employees and Learning & Development initiatives.  Additionally, this role is responsible to assist in developing and enhancing the Company’s employees and evolving Spectrum’s future leaders.

Employee Relations
  • Consult with and coach physicians, managers and employees on routine to complex employee relations issues; assist with policy interpretation; and provide guidance to prevent and/or address conflict resolution.
  • Coach and advise physicians and managers on complex and non-routine performance management including employee coaching, performance improvement plans, corrective actions, employment terminations, and ways to minimize the risk of adverse action.
  • Consult with physicians and managers to direct or conduct investigations of claims of harassment, discrimination, inappropriate behavior, workplace violence and other issues, and determine appropriate action and document in final reports.  Make recommendations regarding appropriate actions and work with physicians and managers along with the Leadership Team in determining next steps. 
  • Legal liaison for advice and responses to complex cases.  Work with legal counsel in gathering information and investigate and respond to external employment legal claims.
  • Develop training on employee relations-related skills.  Assist with development of management training programs, such as Performance Management, Employee Awareness trainings, and Supervisory Skills, as well as delivering such training.
Learning & Development:
  •  Assess relevant training needs throughout the organization, in consultation with physicians, managers and the Leadership Team, including assessment methods and measurement systems entailed.
  • Stay informed as to relevant skills and qualification levels required by staff for effective performance and to meet company goals, and circulate requirements and relevant information, as appropriate.
  • Produce company-wide strategy and plans to meet training and development needs, and manage training delivery, measurement and follow-up as necessary.
  • Design training courses and programs necessary to meet training needs, or manage this activity via external providers when necessary or appropriate.
  • Plan and deliver training courses personally or with other members of the organization, when appropriate.
  • Identify, select and manage external training and accreditation bodies, agencies and providers necessary to deliver required training to appropriate standards.
  • Organize training venues, logistics, transport, accommodation as required, to achieve efficient training attendance and delivery.
  • Arrange for, or coordinate with the appropriate internal resources, the maintenance of all necessary equipment and materials relating to the effective delivery and measurement of training.
  • Ensure all training activities and materials meet with relevant company policies, including health and safety, employment and equality laws.
  •  Undergraduate or Graduate degree in Human Resources or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent combination of experience and training.SPHR certification strongly preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare or related field preferred.
  • 4 to 7 years of Employee Relations experience, with a solid knowledge of employment law and investigation procedures.
  • A background in coaching and consulting with HR colleagues, managers, and employees on routine to complex employee relations issues, conflict resolution, and performance management.
  • Demonstrated successful experience writing detailed documents, policies and reports.
  • Understanding of learning needs analysis.
  • Creation of training programs.
  • Experience creating and managing training programs for all levels, including advanced degreed individuals (i.e., M.D.s, D.O.s, etc.)
  • Experience managing and implementing innovative projects and programs.
  • Open and approachable management style.
  • Able to inspire and lead others to achieve challenging results.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching and influencing skills.
  • Work as an individual and be a team player.
