This is a shared position for the Department of Public Works and the Bureau of Parks, Cemeteries, and Trees. Duties involve semi-skilled and physically demanding work in the maintenance and landscape of City parks, cemeteries, and grounds, snow removal of walks and roads, and Public Works construction and maintenance projects.
Hours of employment 40 hours per week are primarily Monday through Friday, however candidates must have the ability to work non-standard hours for snow removal operations, city functions or in an emergency.

Qualified candidates will possess a high school diploma or equivalent and at least three (3) years experience in grounds maintenance and construction work. Some lead worker experience supervising small crews is preferred. Must have a valid State of Maine driver’s license. A current CDL Class B license, or the ability to obtain the license within six months of hire, is strongly preferred.

It is a condition of employment that candidates must reside within 25 miles of the Augusta Public Works facility.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position.

Pay scale B4: $15.60 to $17.67 per hour with opportunity for overtime
